Mission

The Homeless World Cup uses football to help improve the lives of homeless people around the world. We stimulate the creation of international football programmes in every continent. We organise an annual world class football tournament Homeless World Cup in a major global city to promote and celebrate the work of our International Partners.

Programs

We use football to help homeless people improve their lives. This is done through daily programmes around the world in 74 countries. In each country we have an Official International Partner who operates on behalf of Homeless World Cup. Using football they help homeless people regain motivation for life (94% report new motivation for life), set new goals and progress towards better health, housing, citizenship, education and employment. Every year we organise a World Class International football tournament called the Homeless World Cup. Each of our international partners are invited to apply to take part and 64 nations are brought together in a major global city where we hold the tournament. Each nation brings up to 8 men and 8 women to take part from their year round programme to show the world how these people have changed their lives. The tournament attracts tens of thousands of spectators (168,000 in 2012 in Mexico City), hundreds of international media organisations (BBC, CNN, Eurosport, UEFA.com, FIFA.com, New York Times, Huffington Post etc.) and senior governmental ministers including country leaders and ambassadors. Over 400 volunteers take part in the organisation of each tournament. It is a true celebration of human spirit and it changes the lives of everyones who participates or spectates. A major outcome of this is 85% of those who see the tournament have a more positive perception about homelessness. It also gives visibility to our International Partners in their own countries which helps with awareness and funding.
