Feed the Children Campaign

SAMPARC Children’s home, Bhaje for the care of 117 orphan, poor, needy and disadvantaged girl children is situated at the footstep of famous Bhaje Caves, 10Km from Lonavala, District Pune, Maharashtra, India.

The Children’s home was started with 7 orphan children and Mr. Amitkumar Banerjee and Mrs. Lata Pande laid the foundation of the organization in a mud house in the year 1990 at the footsteps of famous Bhaje Caves near Lonavla.

The children’s upbringing and education is in a family environment of care and protection of Project Incharge, Counselor, Social Workers, House Mothers and Tutors who work with the children under guidance and help of Mrs. Ratna Banerjee, Founder Trustee and coordinator of the Project. 

In the context of spread of COVID-19 and the advisories issued by National & State Government, SAMPARC is taking all necessary precautions and measures to ensure safety of our all children and staff working in the Orphanage. We have closed entry of Staff coming from outside and others since March 15th 2020 for the safety of our Children and project staff. With our Present Number of House-Mother, Counselors, and In-charge who live in the Centre we are taking care of the Children. No one is allowed to go outside and no one is allowed to enter Children’s Home. We are coordinating supplies to the Centre very properly from our Head Office. The project staff is taking all measures to ensure safety of children during this crisis period by following all rules laid down by the Government of India. All safety precautions are being followed to ensure children are safe and healthy. All the children understand the situation and are listening to instructions properly.

 Overall health of all the children is good. Children have nutritious & tasty food prepared in clean kitchen and the same is monitored regularly by Social Worker. Children receive balanced food which includes right proportion of rice, pulses, grains, vegetables, diary, sprouts, and leafy vegetables as their daily intake.

Children have milk and fruits daily. Every Sunday children have special breakfast & meals and also during festivals sweet dish and special Menu is prepared as per the choice of the children. Children have meals along with the house mother and home incharge to ensure personal attention when children are having meals.

To ensure social distancing all measures are taken, children are having meals in their own sadan and we are not conducting any group activities.

 

The children’s Home is equipped with Water purifier and children are provided with clean drinking water. Regular maintenance of Purifier and water testing is done and it is ensured that children have clean drinking water. The kitchen & dining area is sanitized and is always clean and the store room is also kept clean.

 

 ACADEMICS-

As per the State Government order, all children from preprimary to 9th std are promoted to next class. 10th & 12th std HSC Board exams were conducted as per schedule and all the children appeared for final exams. And the results are awaited. Final exams of 11th std are now cancelled and students are promoted to 12th std. due to COVID-19. 

ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED FOR CHILDREN DURING LOCK DOWN PERIOD

As per the order of Government schools & Colleges are closed since March 15th 2020. To ensure that children’s time is utilized efficiently the in house staff- Project In-charge, Social Worker & Counselors & House Mothers are conducting various educational activities for the children.

In house staff has started teaching next academic year school syllabus to children.  Children also on their own made their class schedule/ timetable & shared with Social Worker & Project Incharge. Also some senior children are helping staff to teach small children. 

All children are attending classes daily.  Also Spoken English class, computer class, General Knowledge class and Reasoning class are conducted. SAMPARC Abhinav English Medium School children daily complete their home assignment given by their school teacher on Whats App and also with the help of Whats App staff share the homework through photos by the teachers 5 days in a week.  Staff are taking care of children education & also children are cooperating with staff.     

During this period children are spending time playing indoor games like carom, chess, ludo etc. and also enjoy watching TV by maintaining Social Distance.

The Children’s Home has a good library and children are utilizing the Library efficiently during free time.

 ACHIEVEMENTS OF CHILDREN:

  • On 2nd February 2020, four children participated in singing audition organized by Care for You at SOS Pune and among them two children Saloni & Chaitali are selected for second round.
  • On 12th February 2020, five children participated in Pune District Girls Wrestling Competition and Guddi  won 1st prize & Gauri  won 3rd prize.

Help an Orphan, Poor and Needy Child attend School

SAMPARC Children’s home, Bhaje for the care of 133 orphan, poor, needy and disadvantaged girl children is situated at the footstep of famous Bhaje Caves, 10Km from Lonavala, District Pune, Maharashtra, India.

 

The Children’s home was started with 7 orphan children by Mr. Amitkumar Banerjee and Mrs. Lata Pande who laid the foundation of the organization in a mud house in the year 1990.

 

The children’s upbringing and education is in a family environment of care and protection of Project Incharge, Counsellor, Social Workers, House Mothers and Tutors who work with the children under guidance and help of Mrs. Ratna Banerjee, Trustee and coordinator of the Project. 

 

Overall health of all the children is good and all the children are attending school & college regularly. During this period children received First Semester results and children have performed well. As per the results secured the tutors are working with the children to improve their results in final exams. Also children enjoyed Christmas and New Year Celebrations. Children and staff actively participated in making arrangements. Children enjoyed dance, cake & camp fire. Some children presented Christmas Prayer.

 

Children have enough and tasty food prepared in clean kitchen and the same is monitored regularly by Social Worker. Children receive balanced food which includes right proportion of pulses, grains, vegetables, diary, sprouts, and leafy vegetables as their daily intake.

To ensure well-being of the children– HB level, weight, height, overall health checkup, is regularly monitored. Weight and Height of each child is measured on 30th of every month.

During this period children participated in Sports competitions and won accolades. Following are the details of the same-

SPORTS-DISTRICT LEVEL

From 29th November to 1st December 2019 Children participated inChacha Nehru Balmohostav organized by District of Women & Child Development, Pune at Wagoli, Pune and they won following accolades

  • Relay 400M- Small age group-1st Prize
  • Relay 400M- Senior age group-3rd Prize
  • Kabbadi- Small age group-2nd Prize
  • Kabbadi- Senior age group-3rd Prize
  • Kho-Kho- Senior age group-2nd Prize
  • Chess-2nd prize
  • Long Jump-2nd prize
  • Essay Writing-1st Prize
  • Dance-1st Prize
  • Drawing-2nd prize
  • Elocution-3rd prize

 

SPORTS-DIVISIONAL LEVEL

Children participated in Divisional Level Bal Mahotsav competition representing Pune District from 6th to 8th January 2020. Children from 5 districts Pune, Satara, Sangali, Kolhapur, Solapur participated in the Competitions organized by District Women & Child Welfare Department and won following prizes-

  • Relay 4*100 -1st Prize
  • Drawing-1st Prize
  • Poem Recitation, Hand Writing & Essay writing-1st Prize
  • Long Jump-2nd Prize
  • Chess Competition -2nd Prize

 

Also children have performed very well in Annual School Sports competitions and have won many prizes in various competitions.

All the children are progressing well and are looking forward towards a bright future.
