Our mission embraces inclusivity, ensuring that everyone-regardless of age, social class, gender, ethnicity, or physical status-has the opportunity to experience the joy and empowerment that sailing can provide. We are especially committed to supporting individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds and those unable to contribute financially, firmly believing that no one should be excluded from participating due to financial constraints. Additionally, Sailability welcomes able-bodied members, typically family members, to participate alongside disabled sailors. This inclusive approach fosters integration, helping to reinforce the active involvement of people with disabilities in mainstream activities and broader society. LOCATIONS As far as for today, Sailability organizes sailing in Mol - Antwerp and offers sailing opportunities in three other locations (Brugges - West Flanders, Vilvoorde - Flemish Brabant, and Gent - East Flanders) in co-operation with the local sailing club. Looking ahead, Sailability is eager to expand its reach by identifying additional suitable sites throughout Flanders, collaborating with local sailing clubs and community partners to establish new accessible sailing hubs. These efforts are aimed at further increasing participation among disabled sailors, while also ensuring that each new location upholds the organization's standards for accessibility, safety, and inclusive engagement. As we extend our footprint, we will continue to work closely with host clubs, providing resources, training, and adaptive equipment as needed to maintain a welcoming and supportive environment for all participants. FLEET Our fleet includes over 20 boats (2025). We expect to be replacing at least one boat each year due to age. If resources permit, additional boats will be acquired. We will continue to identify and acquire boats that are adapted for disabled people being very stable and unsinkable. ACTIVITIES Our activity focuses both on recreational and on competition sailing. Our competition team participates in national and international competitions (France, UK, Switzerland). TRAINING: We will continue to train the sailing monitors and volunteers. We also encourage as many G-sailors as possible to have the confidence and ability to sail independently. GOVERNANCE: Sailability is managed by a Board of Directors which meets about once a month. It consists of a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Sailing Manager, Secretary, Treasurer, Communications and Public Relations Officer, Competitions Officer. Other members managing special projects attend board meetings as appropriate.
