Our primary mission is to embed environmental values into local and regional urban development. As an official regional council and unifying voice, we bring together environmental groups, public institutions, private businesses, academic partners, and engaged citizens to build a greener, more resilient, and equitable metropolis. Our Core Areas of Action: Climate Resilience & Adaptation: Combating urban heat islands, fostering natural climate solutions, and empowering local communities to adapt to climate risks through neighborhood-level initiatives (such as ILEAU and Cliniques de l'adaptation). Biodiversity & Green Infrastructure: Protecting natural spaces, establishing ecological corridors, and expanding green networks across Montreal's urban and industrial landscapes. Sustainable Mobility & Urban Planning: Advocating for active transportation, transit-oriented development, and innovative parking management strategies that reduce carbon emissions and reclaim public space. Circular Economy & Waste Reduction: Promoting sustainable resource management, responsible procurement, and waste reduction strategies across organizations and municipalities. How We Work: Advocacy & Expertise: Serving as a trusted advisor and independent spokesperson to municipal and provincial decision-makers to champion ambitious climate policies. Community Mobilization & Empowerment: Providing citizens and local leaders with the training, tools, and research necessary to convert climate anxiety into effective local action. Cross-Sector Collaboration: Fostering multi-stakeholder concertation between municipalities, universities, local businesses, and community organizations to drive systemic, long-term impact.
