Instead, society, services, institutions and communities must become more accessible, understanding and autism friendly. We promote an autism friendly model that goes beyond awareness-raising. For us, being autism friendly means creating environments, services and opportunities that are predictable, respectful, accessible and adapted to the needs, communication styles, sensory profiles and life projects of each person. This approach is present across all our areas of work, from early detection and family support to education, employment, leisure, community participation and adult life. Fundacio Mira'm combines public and private collaboration to drive real social transformation. Through this mixed and sustainable model, we are able to develop specialised services, personalised support plans and community-based resources that help people with autism and their families access the opportunities they need to live with greater autonomy, wellbeing and inclusion. Our goal is not only to provide direct support, but also to transform the environments in which people live, learn, work and participate. Our organisation offers a wide range of resources across the health, educational and social fields. These include specialised assessment and early support services, family guidance, educational programmes, vocational training, employment-oriented pathways, inclusive leisure activities, physical activity programmes, support for autonomy, community participation initiatives and projects aimed at improving quality of life. All these resources are designed from a person-centred perspective and adapted to the individual needs, strengths and preferences of each person with autism. A key part of our work is to ensure that people with autism can take control of their own lives. To achieve this, we develop individualised, person-centred services that promote self-determination, decision-making, autonomy and participation. We work alongside each person and their family to identify the support they need at every stage of life, always respecting their pace, their way of communicating and their personal goals. We also facilitate access to community resources, because inclusion cannot take place only within specialised services. People with autism have the right to be present, participate and contribute in ordinary community spaces: schools, workplaces, cultural venues, sports activities, leisure settings, public services and social environments. For this reason, Fundacio Mira'm works to build bridges between people with autism, families, professionals, public administrations, companies and community organisations. Our autism friendly approach also involves training and supporting the wider community. We promote awareness, accessibility and collaboration with different social actors so that more spaces and services can understand autism and respond appropriately. This helps reduce barriers, prevent isolation and create safer, more respectful and inclusive environments for people with autism and their families.
