Safe Haven is a Cambodian-led organization dedicated to improving healthcare access and quality of life for children with disabilities and vulnerable families in Siem Reap, Cambodia. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to live a healthy, safe, and fulfilling life, regardless of disability, poverty, or social circumstance. Healthcare is at the heart of our work. Many of the children we support face serious barriers to medical care, therapy, nutrition, and rehabilitation services due to poverty, limited local resources, and social stigma surrounding disability. Safe Haven helps children access essential healthcare services including medical treatment, physiotherapy, early intervention therapy, mobility support, nutrition programs, specialist referrals, and assistive devices such as wheelchairs and hearing aids. We work closely with families, local healthcare providers, and therapists to ensure children receive consistent and individualized care that improves their health, mobility, communication, and independence. We also provide ongoing support for caregivers and families, many of whom face significant emotional and financial challenges while caring for children with complex needs. Through social work, emergency assistance, home visits, parent education, and community-based support, we help families build stability and confidence so children can remain safely within loving family environments. Education is another important part of our mission. Children with disabilities are often excluded from school due to discrimination, inaccessibility, or lack of resources. Safe Haven helps children access inclusive education through school support, transportation assistance, learning materials, tutoring, and advocacy for greater accessibility within local schools. We believe education creates opportunity, dignity, and long-term independence for children and young people with disabilities. Safe Haven is also committed to promoting inclusion and reducing stigma in the wider community. Through awareness programs, advocacy, and community engagement, we work to change perceptions around disability and encourage equal opportunities for all children. We believe children with disabilities should be seen, valued, and included in every part of community life. Safe Haven is proudly Cambodian-led and community-focused. We work collaboratively with families, schools, healthcare providers, and local authorities to create sustainable, culturally grounded solutions that strengthen communities from within.
