Pet Friends and Rescue has been rescuing local homeless and abandoned animals since 1991. We are a no-kill, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to serving the animals and residents of Hollister and San Benito County, California. Our Mission is to eliminate cruelty and neglect of abandoned companion animals and to encourage a community atmosphere of education, care, and concern that will strengthen the human/animal bond. Our Mission is to eliminate cruelty and neglect of abandoned companion animals and to encourage a community atmosphere of education, care, and concern that will strengthen the human/animal bond. To accomplish Our Mission, Pet Friends and Rescue has established: --Programs for the retrieval, fostering, and adoption of healthy companion animals into caring and loving homes. --A long-standing partnership with Hollister Animal Control to rescue adoptable companion animals and provide them with a permanent shelter environment while awaiting their new homes. --A low-cost spay and neuter clinic for cats and dogs, providing a vital resource to help reduce pet overpopulation in our area. --Emergency relief services to provide care for displaced animals during times of crisis. Over the years, Pet Friends and Rescue has adopted more than 4,800 cats and dogs into forever families. As a no-kill shelter, we are committed to the long-term care of the cats and dogs in our facility. Yet our animal care expenses have seen a 96% increase since 2020. This rise in costs makes support from Global Giving donors more important than ever for our daily operations.
