The Cotopaxi brand was born from a sense of wonder and connection inspired by the incredible people and places of Ecuador. From the vibrant Amazonian Rainforest and the rugged peaks of the Andes where Mt. Cotopaxi is found, to the colorful streets of Quito, Ecuador is home to beautiful landscapes, biosystems, and cultural traditions.
Now all of this is at risk. Ecuador is facing its worst drought in decades. Given its reliance on hydroelectric power, the country is now dealing with extensive blackouts. And, in late September 2024, wildfires broke out near Quito, destroying and threatening the homes, schools, and livelihoods of tens of thousands of families, not to mention some of the most beautiful and important ecosystems on earth. These crises are happening as the country is already stretched to its limits due to cartel activity and hosting thousands of refugees from neighboring countries.
The Cotopaxi Foundation and GlobalGiving are joining together to support local, vetted nonprofit organizations in Ecuador that are on the front lines of providing immediate relief and long-term recovery support to communities dealing with the impacts of the drought, power outages, and recent wildfires. These organizations are providing food, shelter, and cash assistance to the most vulnerable communities across the country.
