California Giving: Stories of Strength from the 2018 California Wildfires

How to Help

In November 2018, wildfires across California have devastated many communities. From the town of Paradise to Malibu, dozens of people have been killed, thousands of homes have been destroyed and hundreds of thousands of acres have burned. While the Woolsey Fire has ripped apart entire communities in Southern California, the Camp Fire in the northern part of the state is the deadliest and most destructive single fire in California history. More than 300,000 people have had to evacuate and hundreds will spend the holidays without a home to go back to.

As Californians cope, ABC10 in Sacramento and its sister stations across TEGNA are joining forces with HeartThreads, a national team of storytellers who focus on positive and uplifting stories, to help those in need. HeartThreads storytellers are on the ground in California, actively working to showcase the best stories about the best in all of us and raise awareness for those impacted. HeartThreads stories will shine a light on the heroes, the first responders, the helpers and the communities affected by the devastating wildfires.
