How We Process Donations

GlobalGiving is committed to getting donations to donors' recommended projects and organizations in a timely manner.

Donations are usually disbursed to a recommended project or organization within 30 days from the end of the month when the donation was received. Donations made in GBP are processed via GlobalGiving UK and may in some cases take an additional 30 days or longer to be disbursed to the recommended project or organization. Gift Aid claims on GBP donations from UK taxpayers are also subject to longer processing times.

Where permitted, GlobalGiving combines donations to non-U.S. organizations to help reduce bank transaction fees and ensure more funding reaches the organization. Singular or combined donations are disbursed once they total $250. If that threshold is not reached within 12 months, it drops to $25. Organizations may also request disbursement beyond 12 months.

In rare cases, we may not be able to process donations in the timeframes above or as the donor intended. This happens most often because:

• The project has been retired or fully funded between the time of the donation and its processing.
• The organization is out of compliance with GlobalGiving vetting requirements or has outdated account information.
• A banking partner is not able to disburse the funds or GlobalGiving encounters restrictions in disbursing funds.
• The project no longer supports GlobalGiving's charitable purposes.
• GlobalGiving is reviewing a complaint against the organization.
• The donation is made via a GlobalGiving Gift Card that has not yet been paid for by the purchaser.
• A law prohibits it.

In the cases above, GlobalGiving may delay disbursing funds or may ask the donor to recommend an alternate project or organization to support. In the rare event that we are unable to transfer the funds as intended, GlobalGiving may, at its reasonable discretion, redirect them to another eligible project or organization.
