Introduction

Welcome to L’Oréal USA’s Giving Fund toolkit! L’Oréal USA is the largest subsidiary of the L’Oréal Group, the world’s leading beauty company. L’Oréal USA has decided to partner with GlobalGiving as their grantmaker, allowing GlobalGiving to contribute and connect with local nonprofits working in line with the philanthropic objectives of L’Oréal USA brands and divisions.

As L’Oréal USA’s grantmaking partner, GlobalGiving makes and manages grants in line with the programmatic objectives of each participating L’Oréal USA brand or division from start to finish. In addition, we welcome vetted organizations to participate in the Pathway to GlobalGiving program to learn how to become a more sustainable fundraiser, nurture new connections, and make the most of the GlobalGiving experience.

This toolkit is a resource to help you navigate the GlobalGiving grants process throughout the L’Oréal USA Giving Fund grants program.

We are excited to work with you! Our team is here to help every step of the way. If you have questions, please email us at grants+loreal@globalgiving.org. Please add this email to your safe sender list to ensure you receive all necessary emails.

Who We Are

GlobalGiving is a nonprofit that supports other nonprofits by connecting them to donors and companies. Since 2002, we’ve helped trusted, community-led organizations from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe (and hundreds of places in between) access the tools, training, and support they need to make our world a better place. Our mission is to transform aid and philanthropy to accelerate community-led change.

Vision: Unleashed potential of people to make positive change happen.

Commitment: Use our privilege, influence, and access to share power, delivering equitable and inclusive services so everyone in our community feels safe, valued, and supported.

What We Do: GlobalGiving is a nonprofit that uniquely works with individual donors, community leaders, and corporate partners.

  • Individual donors - We make it safe, easy, and fun for anyone to give to vetted nonprofits globally.
  • Community leaders - Nonprofits anywhere in the world can apply to join GlobalGiving to create fundraising pages and access tools, training, one-on-one support, and fundraising campaigns. GlobalGiving also works with individuals and for-profits who are leaders in their community. We work to support their efforts through grant programs, like L’Oréal USA’s Giving Fund.
  • Corporate partners - We offer tools and specialized solutions to help companies enhance their corporate giving strategy, empower their stakeholders, and support high-impact projects around the world.

Our grantmaking practices: As a public charity and foundation, GlobalGiving is on a mission to accelerate community-led change. You can read more about our commitments here. GlobalGiving, as a grantmaker, practices flexible grantmaking to fit the specific programmatic needs of community leaders. We manage our own funds to support community-led work, and we partner with companies like L’Oréal USA to manage grant programs of every shape and size.

How We Will Work Together

Our partnership with L’Oréal USA. L’Oréal USA has partnered with GlobalGiving to manage all brand, division and/or metier’s non-Brand cause grantmaking. L’Oréal USA and its brand/vision programs will offer grants of all sizes to support its non-Brand Cause philanthropic giving, across the board.

We’ll vet your organization’s eligibility. Every grantee is vetted by the GlobalGiving team, through a process called Due Diligence. GlobalGiving’s Due Diligence process is completed online and on GlobalGiving’s website.

We’ll welcome you to GlobalGiving (GG) Grants. GG Grants is an online system designed to help you manage your program’s grants. GG Grants allows you to manage your entire grant cycle online, in one place.

We’ll manage your grants. The GlobalGiving team is responsible for ensuring your grant-funded project supports a charitable purpose and manages your award.

We’ll support you. We’ll be here to provide guidance and cheer you on throughout the entire grant process. Our grants team will support you through the entire grants cycle. We want to continually improve our grants process and our relationships and we welcome your feedback and questions at any time. Please reach out by emailing grants+loreal@globalgiving.org.

GG Grants

GlobalGiving aims to be an effective and transparent grantmaker through our online grant management system called GG Grants. GlobalGiving’s six-step Grant cycle can be managed entirely using GG Grants.

GlobalGiving frames its grant cycle in six steps. You can find out more about each of these steps in our Grant Basics Guide.

A: Your funds will be disbursed according to the disbursement details provided in your due diligence application (options are ACH, FXecute, or check). You can review these details by logging into GlobalGiving.org and accessing your Organization Dashboard.

Q: Is my grant renewable?

A: Typically, you should reach out to your corporate partner regarding any grant renewal opportunities.

Q: How long do nonprofit partners have to submit the application?

A: We ask that nonprofit partners complete their application within two weeks of receiving the initial invitation to apply. If nonprofits are unable to meet this deadline, please reach out to grants+loreal@globalgiving.org. A: Yes, the brand/division that nominated your organization, and L’Oréal USA will have access to your organization’s grant proposal and any reporting if applicable.

Q: Is there a standard length of the narrative report?

A: Please note that general operating support grants do not require a narrative report, but simply require impact metrics. Review your grant agreement for more details. For grants requiring a narrative report, there is no standard length. Strong narrative reports provide an update on the grant activity outlined in the proposal. We recommend revisiting the original proposal and identifying key objectives or outcomes before crafting your report.

Q: Do you have a template for the reports?

A: All reports are to be submitted online via GG Grants. All reports require submitting the total number of beneficiaries served by grant funding. There is no fixed template for financial or narrative reports. Login into GG Grants and review the report page of your grant for details.
