<center>FAQs
Q: How were the projects selected?
A: We want to reinforce the community commitment of the City family of Clubs across the globe and have identified projects that can support the communities in which City Football Group Limited’s (CFG) Clubs are situated worldwide. Projects were selected by our expert grant making team in consultation with local community staff. All projects are run by registered charities which have undergone robust due diligence to ensure they are suitable funding recipients and deliver the maximum impact for young people and their families affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Q: How will you measure the impact of the projects?
A: All projects will submit regular impact reports to our grant management team, who will also engage in regular communication with funded charity partners to continually assess impact.
Q: How will CFG match my donation?
A: The match funding limit has now been reached, with donations totalling £500,000 being matched by CFG. CFG has matched cash donations from individual fans to each project on a 1:1 basis (namely, in the same currency in which the donation was made, so a £1 donation would be matched by CFG contributing an amount equal to £1, subject to the individual project and campaign limits set out below). This is known as ‘match funding’.
Q: How much will CFG contribute to the projects globally?
A: CFG has allocated match funding up to £500,000 for donations made to our Cityzens Giving for Recovery projects (via our crowdfunding platforms and related fundraising activities) between June 16th 2020 and June 30th 2021. CFG are also helping each project in the delivery of their activities, providing guidance and support, as necessary.
Q: Should I donate in a specific currency?
A: GlobalGiving will convert any donation made at the prevailing currency exchange rate applicable to your donation in accordance with GlobalGiving’s currency exchange rate policies which can be found here. The applicable rate will be calculated once the CFG match funding period ends (see How much will CFG contribute to the projects globally? for details of when this will be). CFG will then match your donation by making its own direct contribution (based on the prevailing rate in GBP pounds sterling) to the project you have chosen to support.
Q: When can I donate?
A: The fundraising campaign is live now until 30 June 2021 inclusive and you are able to donate directly to a Recovery project. The CFG match funding has now ended. See When does CFG make its contribution? below for details.
Q: When does CFG make its contribution?
A: CFG match funding will be made to each charity at the end of the campaign. The match funding is determined by amounts raised in relation to individual and/or all Cityzens Giving for Recovery projects or, at the latest, 30 June 2021 (see How much will CFG contribute to the projects globally? above for details of when this will be).
Q: When will the funded projects be delivered in each territory by CFG’s charity partners?
A: All projects will commence delivery on receipt of funds. Each project will last for a minimum of 6 months.
Q: How will my data be used?
A: CFG has appointed GlobalGiving UK (registered charity no. 1122823) and its affiliates (GlobalGiving) to receive and co-ordinate the distribution of all fans’ donations to CFG’s charity partners globally. GlobalGiving will act as the data controller in relation to your personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable local legislation. Your personal data will not be passed by GlobalGiving to CFG. For further information on the data which GlobalGiving will require from you and how this will be used, please refer to GlobalGiving’s privacy policy which can be found here.
Q: Do the projects get any support beyond my donation and CFG’s match funding?
A: Yes, Cityzens Giving provides a unique profiling opportunity allowing the projects to raise awareness with fans around the world. In addition some projects will benefit from additional Club support in the relevant territory over time, including in kind giving and volunteering, each of which will be assessed on a case by case basis.
Q: I remember Cityzens Giving from last year – this feels different?
A: Yes, it is. This is a specially adapted campaign to respond to the current coronavirus pandemic. For the first time, we are matching fans’ generous donations to projects in the ten CFG club territories and all projects have a singular focus on youth recovery – promoting health, education and inclusion.
Q: What happens to projects from last year’s Cityzens Giving campaign that aren’t featured this year?
A: These projects continue to receive support from CFG to guarantee their long term sustainability. This includes funding, community football training for young leaders and knowledge sharing opportunities with other supported projects.
Q: Will all of the money which I donate go towards the project?
A: All donations made are processed by GlobalGiving for disbursement to the projects. Please note GlobalGiving deducts a fee in order to process the payment. More information on GlobalGiving’s applicable fees can be found here. GlobalGiving’s Terms & Conditions can be found here.
Q: What about Gift Aid?
A: If you are a UK taxpayer and make a qualifying donation supported by a valid Gift Aid declaration, GlobalGiving will be able to reclaim Gift Aid on your donation and pass this on to the charity partner. You should seek independent tax advice if you wish to consider applying for personal tax relief in relation to your donation.
Q: Will I be able to get tax relief on my donation? A: This will depend, amongst other things, on your personal circumstances, tax status, choice of currency and country of tax residence. You should seek local independent tax advice if you wish to consider applying for this.
