On behalf of our native wildlife, we would like to thank you for donating to the Trauma Season Appeal. The need for medical assistance for sick and injured wildlife is as urgent now as ever. Your gift has helped the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital well into 2015.
Together you successfully raised $3130 to buy soy based baby formula to feed sick koalas this is just over one third of their yearly supply.
The Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital has now treated almost 56,000 animals since opening and in 2014 just over 6100 patients where admitted from all species. 668 of these patients where koalas making up 10.9% of all animals admitted last year.
Many of our patients require complex intensive care, hands-on rehabilitation and many months of specialised treatment to make a full recovery. Koalas need extra special care and are usually long term patients who's treatment just like humans, is costly, and without the generosity of caring individuals like you, many of our animals would suffer with the lack of adequate treatment provided by the vets, nurses, carers and volunteers. Because of you, we are able to provide a level of care that ensures we reach our goal – to release our patients back into the wild, so they can live out their life as nature intended.
Rest assured that your donation goes directly to saving our wildlife. Australia Zoo is our major sponsor and covers all the administration costs required to run this unique, world class facility, which runs 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week.
We all have a long road ahead of us to fight for wildlife protection, to save one and ultimately save the species. Because of you, we are able to continue the work that Steve and his mother Lyn Irwin started, and wildlife will continue to be saved every day.
Thank you again and happy holidays from the hearts of our wildlife,
Yours in conservation
