Welcome to GlobalGiving, the first and largest global crowdfunding community for nonprofits. Since 2002, GlobalGiving has raised $191,701,161 from 480,201 donors who have supported 12,812 projects.

Now that you’re here, you’re part of a powerful community that supports local organizations that are working to educate children, feed the hungry, preserve our environment, build houses, train women (and men) with job skills, and do hundreds of other amazing things.

We make it possible for nonprofits from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe (and hundreds of countries in between) to access the tools, training, and support they need to be more effective and make our world a better place.

Our Vision

Unleashed potential of people to make positive change happen.

Our Mission

To catalyze a global market for ideas, information, and money that democratizes aid and philanthropy.

Why give through GlobalGiving?

GlobalGiving enables you to fund the underdog. We make it possible to support creative ideas that might never be funded through traditional development and philanthropy approaches. But just because you're funding the underdog, it doesn't mean you're taking undue risk. We have a tested vetting process, and we make sure donors get feedback about how their contributions have been put to work and the results achieved - with satisfaction guaranteed through the GlobalGiving Guarantee.

The organizations that post projects on GlobalGiving go through a rigorous due diligence review, satisfy IRS guidelines for international grantmaking and tax deductibility, and meet US anti-terrorism requirements.

About GlobalGiving

We're focused on helping people get the funding they need to change the world. But we also help nonprofits become more effective with that money. GlobalGiving connects organizations to resources that help them continually learn and improve. As nonprofits become more effective, they have a far-greater impact on social problems. Read about GlobalGiving's impact.

All donations go through the GlobalGiving Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. There are no costs for nonprofits to join GlobalGiving, but GlobalGiving retains a 15% fee on donations. When a donor makes a $100 donation, $85 goes to the project(s) of his/her choosing, and $10 goes to fund the many programs and services we offer nonprofits. Then $3 goes to cover standard credit card or transaction fees, and the remaining $2 goes to administrative costs of running GlobalGiving. We’ll use that $15 to raise, on average, an additional $20 for every nonprofit, and we’ll also provide those organizations with tools, training, support, and access to a new crowd of potential supporters, including our corporate partners.

Most donors choose to make an incremental contribution at checkout to cover this fee and ensure that 100% of their donation goes to the project(s) that they have selected to support. This results in an average of 90% of all funds donated getting to the project on the ground.

How can I get my project on GlobalGiving?

We work with registered organizations to raise money and organize donors for specific projects in communities all over the world. Unlike a traditional foundation, GlobalGiving does not provide grants. Instead, we offer organizations an easy-to-use fundraising and donor management system, fundraising tools and training, and access to our corporate partners and media outreach. Our history

In 1997, World Bank executives Mari Kuraishi and Dennis Whittle were asked to develop innovative ways to combat poverty. They created the World Bank's Development Marketplace, a first-of-its-kind event where people from around the world competed for World Bank funds. The event's success unveiled the enormous potential of a global marketplace for philanthropy, and participants asked for a real marketplace that was open year round and operated virtually. Mari and Dennis saw the brilliance of this idea, left the World Bank and launched GlobalGiving.
