Help us to break down the false cultural perceptions about persons with Down Syndrome. Developing a local Public Information Campaign is the first step to reach inclusion in our community.
There are not opportunities for the around 2000 persons with Down Syndrome at the Colombian Caribbean Coast to get involved in social, laboral or educational activities because of the misconception of their potential. The goal its to reeducate our community about Down Syndrome generating a positive outlook.
Beginning in the second half of 2011, we will be developing our informative campaign, with school conferences, advertising billboards, informative flyers and posters, mall stands and with art work exhibitions done by persons with Down Syndrome.
Reinforcing information over the time will change attitudes of our society towards Down Syndrome. Its a hard job that will take years to be accomplished, but the future of our babies with DS in our community depends upon our present actions.
