Summary

This project was created to make basic health services in rural and marginal urban areas of Lima and other Peruvian cities accessible for all ages.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

In Peru, 3% receive medical attention from armed forces or National Police hospital, 4% through private services, 24% throughsocial security services, 25% by institutions under the ministry of health, and 44% have no access to formal health care. This 44% is likely using natural & herbal treatments, services of local healers, and other natural medicines. This project will improve access to formal health services for ~50,000 persons.

How will this project solve this problem?

90 “Bridges of Life” in areas lacking adequate equipment and doctors, nurses, & support...will offer free medical care, diagnoses, and medicine and provide general medicine, pediatric, gynecological, dental, and dermatology.

Potential Long Term Impact

More than just a medical campaign offering one visit, whose effect could be temporary, this project would make health care more accessible and result in regular health check-ups and greater access to formal health institutions

Project Message

“Realistically, there is very little hope for a person with scarce resources in a country as poor as ours. We only hope to receive attention and medicines from the Puentes de VIDA project"
- Hernaní Silva Rengifo, Client of Puentes de Vida
