Summary

The Mariposa Center for Girls is a beautiful space for the girls of our community to come and learn valuable skills that will set them off on the right path to become active leaders for social change. Our facility contains space for educational, enrichment, and job training programs. We are so proud of our facility and our ability to provide breakfast and a healthy afternoon snack 6 days a week. The organization is seeking funding to cover the costs of our cooking gas for the Spring/Summer term

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

Many of our girls depend on the Mariposa DR Foundation to provide at least 1 meal a day. Breakfasts, snacks and lunches include eggs, oatmeal, rice and beans and freshly prepared fruits and vegetables from our on-site garden! We are currently serving up more than 700 meals and snacks per week out of our kitchen. Simply put, if we are able to ensure our cooking gas needs, we are therefore able to provide the food to fuel our girls through their day!

How will this project solve this problem?

Funds raised will cover the costs of refilling the cooking gas tank every two weeks as well as any maintenance the tank and/or tubing may require.

Potential Long Term Impact

The Mariposa Center for Girls will become self-sustaining by hosting student groups and service trips and providing job opportunities for girls where they can earn an income and generate revenue for the upkeep of the center. It will drastically change the lives of girls in our community for generations to come and we will have a global impact.
