A 5000 sq. meter complex where poor girls can engage in sports, academic tutoring, job training, crafts, computer and library access, health resources and much more. The Mariposa Center for Girls will attract volunteers, educators and humanitarians from across the world to share knowledge on educating and empowering girls as a means to end generational poverty on a global scale. Our vision is to create a model for the world and raise awareness that girls are the most powerful force for change.
Girls are the most underserved, undervalued population on earth, yet they are the key to breaking the cycle of generational poverty for their families. There are few opportunities for girls outside of the home to gain life long skills that will help them become independent and successful in their future. If a girl stays in school, remains happy and healthy and gains skills, she will marry later, have fewer, healthier children and earn an income that she will invest back into her family.
The Mariposa Center for Girls will be a model for the world. A beautiful space for the girls of our community where they can come and learn valuable skills that will set them off on the right path to become active leaders for social change. Our programs offer an integrated approach to educating, empowering and employing girls, where success in one supports and enhances success in the others, cultivating lasting change and ultimately empowering them to break the cycle of generational poverty.
The Mariposa Center for Girls will become self-sustaining by hosting student groups and service trips and providing job opportunities for girls where they can earn an income and generate revenue for the upkeep of the center. It will drastically change the lives of girls in our community for generations to come and we will have a global impact.
The center is going to change everything in our community. Life here is hard, but with Mariposa I always feel that my daughters and my family have support and together we can make things better. - Kati Martinez, Mother of 7 & Parent Volunteer
