Summary

Urban Creative Factory - street art center will build capacities and provide opportunities to 200 deprived youngsters from Nis, Serbia such as juvenile delinquents, youngsters coming from socially excluded groups, youth living in poverty to empower them, integrate to the mainstream society and build their self-confidence through creative work and artistic workshops (graffiti, comics, hip hop music, break dance, photography, video) that would be free of charge and led by recognized artists

Challenge

There are around 15000 young people (15-19) living in Nis, Serbia. According to the research done by City of Nis and civil sector, the greatest number of them lives in poverty. Lack of good economical situation and opportunities for development cause increased violent behavior or absence of motivation to change current situation. Proposed street art center will affect and included 200 deprived youngsters coming from socially excluded groups, living in poverty or juvenile delinquents group.

Solution

"Urban Creative Factory" street art center provides artistic workshops to deprived youngsters in Nis through different disciplines (hip hop music, break dance, graffiti, comics, photography, video) that are free of charge. Workshops will be provided 5 days a week with the access to equipment and professional artists.Project will involve organization of "Dodji na Amfi - Vol.4" hip hop event, 200 youngsters will have a chance to perform or organize the exhibition of their works

Long-Term Impact

During the 12 months period, street art center will build skills and competences of 200 deprived youngsters in different artistic disciplines, develop their creative potentials, connect them with the recognized hip hop artists and provide them with the opportunity to perform and exhibit their work in front of the larger audience, which will ultimately lead to their empowerment, building of self-confidence and integration to the mainstream society
