We are raising funds to supply artisans with clothing, food, sanitary healthcare needs, shelter, dry and safe workplaces, and craft materials. Without these, our artisans are paralyzed. They cannot work for their families and communities. A Global Friendship needs your help so that we can help our artisan friends get back on their feet and on the road to economic sustainability.
The recent floods of Thailand are said to be the worst in 50 years. Of the 77 Thai provinces, 26 are completely under water. Over 2 million people have been affected; over 360 Thai residents reported dead and over 110,000 are left without shelter, food and other necessities. The primary industry for the families that A Global Friendship supports is in agriculture and rice cropping. Of these communities, 15 percent of rice paddies have been covered in water, and trains and roads are inaccessible

Through our Project HOME program A Global Friendship works closely with matriarchs in Thailand to provide small business training, micro-grants and a network of outlets to grow their small businesses. We currently work with 26 women in Khon Kaen, Chiang Mai, and Mae Chaem. Since we've started working with one artisan she has been able to hire 12 people under her, effectively creating opportunity in her community. The crafts are sold in over 125 retail doors in the U.S.
