This project organizes an illustrators prize to discover the best African illustrators of children's literature. Illustrators will then be offered training, representation and exposure to publishers and multimedia producers in Africa and abroad.
There is a dearth of children's books written by Africans and even more so, superbly illustrated books that reflect the lives of African children. Artistic illustrators' talent has not been recognized or encouraged in the area of children's literature. This project will discover, nurture and celebrate emerging illustrators to produce beautifully illustrated stories for children to enjoy.
Golden Baobab will discover top talented illustrators through a pan-African illustrators prize. These illustrators will be given resources and training to produce stellar illustrations for children's stories. Monkey Bread, our literary agency, will represent and seek opportunities for illustrators to apply their talent in producing world-class books for children. Golden Baobab is dedicated to fueling childhood imaginations through stellar African literature for children and young adults.
By finding and nurturing emerging African illustrators, we work to fill a demand for content creators of African children's literature. We make it possible for world-class, beautifully written and illustrated children's books to be created for children to enjoy. Golden Baobab is registered in Ghana as a nonprofit organization(Registration number: G-32,192)
