Impoverished children in Siem Reap have few to no opportunities to go to school. When they are able to afford the uniform and book fees for public school, they study in overcrowded classrooms with teachers who don't always show up due to low salaries. But, these children have enormous potential and there are affordable locally-run private schools that provide meaningful educational opportunities! CCEdFund provides full-year full-tuition scholarships to students.
The Cambodian public education system is failing to provide meaningful educational opportunities for the country's poorest children. In fact, approximately 40% of the population lives on less than $1.25 per day. Therefore, due to widespread poverty, many children in Siem Reap have few to no opportunities to go to school. When they are able to afford the uniform and book fees for public school, they study in overcrowded classrooms with teachers who don't always show up due low salaries.
But, these bright and determined children have enormous potential! CCEdFund works with partner schools and children's centers in Siem Reap to identify scholarship recipients. There are affordable locally-run reliable private schools that provide meaningful educational opportunities! In Siem Reap, CCEdFund has 5 partner schools that provide discounted tuition to CCEdFund scholarship recipients. This project will allow donors to provide funds directly to students' scholarships at these schools.
CCEdFund provides full-year full-tuition scholarships to students who have been nominated and approved. And, we commitment to funding our students through their level of education so that they can build their records of success. Attending school is a life changing event for these students, their families, Siem Reap, and Cambodia. By helping to redevelop a class of leaders from the country's impoverished youth, CCEdFund is supporting long-term peaceful social and economic development.
