Your donation will help 13,700+ shelters and rescue groups in the U.S., Canada and Mexico improve the lives of homeless pets and help them get adopted. We give organizations grants to vaccinate their pets against common shelter diseases, train dogs in basic manners so they're more appealing to adopters, deal with influxes of pets after hurricanes and other natural disasters, give their pets quality food, and more.
This project has the potential to impact more than 13,700 animal shelters and rescue groups and more than 6 million homeless pets each year. These organizations have been hit hard by the economic downturn in recent years, as budgets and donations have decreased and more pets have been relinquished or abandoned by families facing foreclosure and other hardships. We help shelters feed and care for homeless pets and reduce euthanasia rates by finding them adoptive homes.
We offer shelters and rescue groups many types of grants, all designed to help them get pets adopted and out of shelters. Our grants help organizations vaccinate their pets against common shelter diseases, train their dogs in basic manners that make them more adoptable, give their pets beds to get them off the concrete floors and much, much more - whatever it takes to keep shelter pets happy, healthy and more likely to find forever homes.
Our ultimate goal is to end the euthanasia of 3-4 million adoptable pets that takes place in the United States every year. By helping shelters keep their adoptable pets healthy and find them homes quickly, we can achieve that goal.
The changes you have made for our shelter are miraculous. I thank you for all the animals who will leave this facility as "forever pets" because you have had a hand in their new-found beginnings. - Suzy Brown, Manager, City of Guthrie (OK) Animal Shelter
