Access to children’s books is very limited. Many schools don’t have enough books, and few children see books that are fun. SEDA will publish and distribute a free book to children to improve literacy
Schools in Laos are badly equipped, and most do not have enough books for children to learn to read. The books that the children do see are rarely fun or interesting for them, and if they are bilingual, the English is often very bad. SEDA is raising money so that 10,000 children across Laos will receive a copy of a new, fun and educational children’s book called “Look Around Laos”. The book will encourage reading and literacy in a country where almost a quarter of the population cannot read.
The project will pay for the printing and distribution of the books to 10,000 children in Laos
Introducing children to well written, fun and educational books will help teach them to read, and inspire them to read more. The book will also help to teach children English.
