Introduce thousands to parkour through free classes at the community-built parkour gym in Seattle and support the growth of a lifelong, respectful discipline that anyone can benefit from!
When was the last time you climbed a tree or balanced on a curb on your way somewhere? We live in an age where lack of movement and play in our daily lives can have disastrous effects on our health, yet liability concerns are tearing down our playgrounds and limiting activities in parks. Parkour's extreme exposure in movies and video games has quickly made it very popular - our challenge is to teach everyone that you can start safely, train progressively, and do parkour for the rest of your life
We've secured a 10,000 sq ft indoor facility that we can use as the center of all of our programs. Our operating expenses are covered by memberships dues but our outreach programs, gym improvements, and scholarships are driven by donations.
Outdoor parkour parks are still many years away in the US. Through a gym like this we will introduce more than a thousand people every year to parkour through free intro classes and will drive the development of the entire discipline 10 years down the road.
Unlike with many sports there's no perfect body type, and no one has any better ranking than anyone else. It's not about finding the best people, it's about finding the best in people.
