Challenge

Individuals with mental illness face challenges on fixed incomes often living in dingy and cluttered environments which leads to low self-esteem and poor quality of life. In and out of healthcare programs, many continue to feel a sense of homelessness, despite housing.

Solution

Facilitating community-building among peers transform mental health from the inside out. Those who get peer support to de-clutter, clean and paint a room begin to sense their self-worth. Friends invest their energy and learn while having fun.

Long-Term Impact

Painting and other marketable skills developed Volunteer-on-the-job Training experiences and references Life skills/interests developed as a result of involvement Level of pride/share sense of ownership Ability to sustain home improvements
