Summary
To support the local production of fortified children’s food for pregnant and lactating women and children under five in Zambia's rural and peri-urban areas.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
In Zambia, most children born in the rural and peri-urban compounds have fallen prey to malnutrition. The leading factors are that Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices (KAP) of lactating mothers is poor and that malnutrition prevention foods are expensive.
How will this project solve this problem?
The project will target pregnant and lactating mothers to be taught in local food preparation.
Potential Long Term Impact
The project will 'Reduce by two thirds the mortality rate among 200 children under five annually.'
