With the use of an Income Generating Activity, this project will work to make Ugandan Out of School Youths in Bisanje Parish in Kabonera Sub-County of Masaka District to become contributing members of their communities, economically independent, and assist them with the psychosocial support they deserve. This project will work with 25 out of school youth who have be in some way infected of affected by AIDS and provide them with a piggery project as a means to gain income.
Due to the affects of HIV/AIDS, many heads of households are forced to leave work because of their illness. Because of this, many youths must leave school to make up for this lack of income. Many of them have to find work anywhere they can, even if situations are dangerous.
These youths will learn a specialty in a specific field where they will become experts in their own income generating project and will become more economically stable in a safe and sustainable way. They will become skilled in piggery rearing practices through skills training workshops.
25 out of school youth will have the skill sets in pig rearing, business, team work, and team management. Participants will also work together to create a safe place of counseling and support for one another with the help of Kitovu Mobile staff and other respected members of the community. This project will also boost their resilience for nutritional and income levels and as well enhance their capacity to effectively respond to the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
