This project is to see 175 children, especially girls, aged 6 to 13 years old from urban poor families, living in the slum in Phnom Penh city, enjoy their basic rights particularly the right to education and pursue their dreams. This project will support those children to public and private schools by covering costs such as school fees, school uniform, school materials and bike to school. We also run Child's Club twice per month to let them learn creativity, music and other life-skills.
Thousands of poor families in Phnom Penh have struggled for supporting their children's basic needs such as education, food and basic healthcare. As a result, many children could not access to education or they could but they drop out of school earlier as they are hard to afford the education related costs. An uneducated or a low level of education and lack of vocational skills make these children vulnerable to abuse including illicit drugs, gangsters, human trafficking and child labor.
As the poor families cannot afford to send the children to school as it is their basic right, our project will support the to local public and/or private school by covering the costs of school fees, required extra-tuition fees, school uniform and school stationery/supplies. We also run the Children's Clubs twice per month so that they can learn what the school do not offer such as creativity, music, child right and protection, child participation, basic healthcare and other life-skills.
The children enjoy their basic rights, and pursue their dreams with the support of the people around them especially their parents (families), teachers and local authorities.
