Summary
1,195 life changing operations were performed in 2009. The addition of this new Surgery System would decrease patient healing time from 7 days to 1 day and dramatically reduce the risk of infection.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
This project will effect patients in need of internal operations. A Laparoscopic Surgery System will allow surgeons to perform the same procedures as in traditional open surgery, only using small incisions instead of large abdominal incisions. This benefits the patents by reducing their post operative pain, providing a shorter hospital stay, and a faster return to normal physical activities, thus giving them the ability to once again provide for their families.
How will this project solve this problem?
The addition of a Laparoscopic Surgery System will allow Faith In Practice surgery teams to perfrom more life changing surgeries, and provide more availability at our post op clinic, the Casa De Fe, as recovery times will be shorter per patient.
Potential Long Term Impact
This equipment will allow patients a faster and safer recovery with fewer complications. Ultimately they will be able to return home and provide for their families much faster after they receive an operation with this system.
