YAD has empowered 107 burundian young girls and boys aged 10 - 25 to continue their education, find a job, start a social or business venture through providing them adequate business skills and technical support. Now, we intend to help another 80 abandoned children between 10 and 18 escape poverty & child exploitation through video technology and development of websites, apps, programs, games and more.
We have done a lot. But, we need to do much more and that's where we need your help. Right now, we are receiving numerous requests from high-risk youth seeking for means to improve their living conditions. There are 3,000 abandoned children in our community who need to continue their education, find a job, start a social or business venture. They need to learn computers and how to use video technology to escape poverty. Unfortunately, they are not given a chance to build their dreams yet.
This project will teach 80 abandoned children how to make a film - scriptwriting, casting, acting, camera, sound, editing, marketing and distribution - and how to develop websites, apps, games and more. They will learn all aspects of a business from the core idea to the revenue model. It offers the following IT company-building modules (1) Start a business, (2) Grow a business, and (3) Use a Smart Technology for a SMATER enterprise.
Training and supporting abandoned boys and girls enable them to start breaking the cycle of poverty, child exploitation and consolidate peace and security in their community. This program gives them an incredible opportunity to develop their talent and creativity; build their dreams; create decent self-employment and spaces of expression, interaction and local work; diminish migration flows to other regions.
