Haitian Street Kids, Inc. provides shelter, advocacy, nutritional, educational, legal & medical support to the street kids & runaway restavek slave children of Haiti. Residential & Outreach.
There are currently over 400,000 restavek child slaves as young as 4 years old throughout Haiti. An estimated 12,000 more children are abandoned and alone on the dangerous streets in Port au Prince. Despite the inpouring of intl. aid to Haiti following the earthquake and subsequent disasters, the street kids are the one sector that has been totally left out of the loop and ignored. This project will give a home to the most vulnerable and a viable & permanent resource to the others.
We intend to create a central complex where these forgotten children will receive the medical, educational & nutritional needs they require in a protected environment. An outreach facility will be included and open to all street kids in need.
Access to clean water, protection, education & basic human needs is something these children haven't been able to take for granted. We will offer them the opportunity to live healthy lives with a view to the future that they would otherwise not have.
