It is to improve human life through HIV/AIDS Education, Medication, use of Family planning methods like contraceptive pills and Relief support directly to 824 people and indirectly to over 2500 at the landing site in Wakiso Uganda. The goal of the project is to reduce the number of newly diagnosed cases of HIV, reduce child abuse, violence and implementation of the use of family planning methods over 1 year period since this in the root cause of problems in the rural areas here.
The community of Wakiso: To educate the local youth population in schools and youth clubs to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS. To increase the number of the population accessing testing for HIV and other STIs To train local Health staff in methods of HIV education and prevention To identify and train resident parish Mobilizers (nominated as respected member of the village/area) who can support the provision of local HIV support services and promote access to treatment of opportunities.
General Approach The project will be implemented in the 2 sub counties of Wakiso district- Uganda. The project will liaise with the district Health Department, 4 participating health centers, 2 county AIDS committees, Parish AIDS task forces, village AIDS task forces and Resident Parish Mobilizers (once identified). In addition, International partners and volunteers like Miss Janet Coppola, Catherine Hislop and others will be recruited by Care for African Kids from Europe, U.S.A and Australia.
Major Assumptions The main outcome of the project is a reduction cases of child abuse and violence that have been reported to police every year, in new cases of HIV diagnosed and a reduction number in fast growing population in the community through increased use of contraceptive pills which in this we aim for better life in young ones. If the project works, there should be an increased uptake in testing and access to treatment for HIV, thereby increasing the number of new cases diagnosed.
