Many young people want to make change in their communities, but don't know how. The Midwest Academy offers a paid summer internship to provide students the skills and experience they need to make concrete improvements in their communities and change the world.
Every summer thousands of college students try to figure out how they will live out their passion for social justice during their time off while earning money to cover school-related expenses. At the same time, community organizations doing great work in low-income communities to improve people's lives need well trained staff, but don't have the funds needed to train and hire people.
The Midwest Academy Internship fills this gap by training interns, paying them a stipend and placing them with community organizations in their communities. This match-up gives students the opportunity to live out their passion for social justice, develop and hone skills that will make them good organizers and provide much-needed capacity to under-resourced organizations in their communities.
After spending the summer in the Midwest Academy internship, students are equipped to go on and become effective social change agents in the world. Many students continue working for the organizations in their community, while others take jobs that make concrete improvements in people's lives across the country and the world.
