This project will provide 5 classrooms in Southern India at Siragu Montessori School in Chennai, India. The school believes in providing more than education , enabling students to be employable on completion of their education. Personality Development, value systems , and vocational training are provided to students living on pavements, rescued from Child Labour and poorest children and ZERO fees is charged for their education and stay.
Non availability of shelter/housing, prevalence of child labor, inability to study because of extreme poverty, prevalence of child abuse and road side begging are major concerns in the area and Siragu Montessori School of Round Table India aims at providing free education and shelter to these children. The school currently needs classrooms and infrastructure to support quality education. Currently, multiple classes have a combined classroom study due to non-availability of adequate classrooms.
By providing 5 classrooms, the students will be able to study the curriculum of their class. Adequate infrastructure would motivate the existing students to attend classes regularly and encourage more children to join the school. Food, Shelter, medicine, hygiene would be taken care of by the school for these underprivileged children who are today devoid of these facilities.
We will educate over 200 children per year and help nearly 200 nearby youth to be employable by providing vocational training every year. This will help them rise out of extreme poverty and will encourage the parents to send the children to school and not promote child labor.
