Our Agents of Change and Citizen Science programs bring delegations of U.S.-based youth to conferences and summits related to international policy, primarily at the United Nations. Our delegates work with government delegates, fellow civil society members, and other youth to promote youth-friendly and future-focused policies related to sustainable development and climate change.
Youth are set to inherit a world filled with unprecedented environmental and social problems. Decisions made today about sustainable development in international governance forums will shape the lives of future generations for decades to come. Despite the tremendous impact environmental policies will have upon the lives of young people, policy debates around issues of development remain inaccessible to the vast majority of youth.
SustainUS empowers young people to organize and advocate for youth-friendly and future-focused sustainable development policies in the UN and other international arenas. We equip young change-makers with thorough trainings, extensive networks, and valuable points of access, so that they can better impact debates and decisions on the environment, gender, public health, and more. SustainUS ensures that the youth perspective is represented in high-level discussions of global signficance.
SustainUS provides opportunities for youth to participate in international decision-making through direct civic engagement. The skills gained from these experiences empower young leaders to relate global issues of climate change, social equality, and sustainable development to local challenges after returning to their own communities. We strive to build a future in which all people recognize the inherent equality and interdependence of social, economic, and environmental sustainability.
