The hardest times may be behind them, but the severe events in the past, the trauma of the lack of loving and caring adults during the early development of adopted orphans have long lasting negative effects on their development and education. They need individual care and attention by teachers to have progress in development. We help adopted kids with special needs to get education in private schools as state schools in Russia with 25 kids in a class can't provide one-to-one care and support.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Many children with difficult childhoods have problems at school. There are those whose parents have died or abandoned them. Their suffering and sense of isolation impede their intellectual development. Even for those orphans who are lucky enough to be adopted these setbacks can hinder their long term development. These children need the individual attention of a teacher and tolerance from their classmates. Unfortunately, Russia's state schools aren't able to provide this kind of support.
How will this project solve this problem?
We help adoptive families to choose a private paid school for an orphan with special needs that will take into account their individual abilities and needs. We cover all expenses for child's education. In private schools children with special needs have their own timetables and curriculums which target any gaps in their personal and academic development. Your donations will help them take a first step into the future with dignity and respect.
Potential Long Term Impact
One-to-one education in a paid private school has positive effect even on those kids who have big health issues. After graduation the private school children with special needs can pass the exams and enter high schools to continue their education or find jobs they like. Good worthy education has great impact on children with special needs! We see how being in school raises their confidence and self-esteem, and what more valuable - enhances their chances to a bright worth living future.
