To shift perceptions of homelessness and of the people who are homeless from helplessness and hopelessness to appreciation, compassion and connection. We are: Standing for the greatness of homeless people and the huge contribution they hold for the world Generating a new and radical interpretation of who they are: the vanguard of a new culture based on the dignity and inherent value of human beings Building a platform that empowers homeless people to show the world who they are
We have three primary objectives or programs: 1) art and music programs and making films at homeless shelters, 2) holding public events featuring the art, music and film created at the shelters and 3) gathering and disseminating information about the arts and film involving homeless people, connecting the arts and homeless communities.
Bob Ballard - Executive Director
Headed Ballard & Company, CPAs, LLC, a consulting firm which specialized in grant and contract auditing. He holds a BSBA, summa cum laude from Bryant University and studied Public Administration at Boston University’s School of Management. Bob evaluated government programs for the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), a Congressional branch agency and is an award-winning singer/songwriter
Gayle Ballard - Assistant Director
Gayle Ballard has been directly involved in the Hearts Of Fire Project since it began. She holds a BA in Accounting from the University Of Massachusetts-Boston and has extensive experience in managing small businesses and non-profit organizations. Gayle served as the financial manager for the Northeast Connecticut Health District and a senior auditor for Ballard & Company, CPA's, LLC.
Deborah Ogburn - Art Director
Visual artist, graphic designer and expressive arts coach, and is passionate about helping individuals, communities and organizations create personal and social change through the arts. Deborah has facilitated expressive arts programs for homeless people at shelters and for disabled and mentally ill patients. Deborah specializes in creating a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere for all participants
