Handheld Computers for Health in Africa

SATELLIFE’s groundbreaking work with handheld computers involved providing them to doctors and medical students as they made their rounds in the rural villages of Uganda and Kenya. After seeing a patient in their home, instead of returning to the office to consult a possibly outdated textbook, SATELLIFE provided them with the trusted information they needed to make sound diagnosis and treatment decisions at their patient’s bedside.

SATELLIFE will continue to provide medical students at Makerere University Faculty of Medicine in Kampala, Uganda with handheld computers loaded with medical reference material, essential drug lists and other resources to empower them to improve the efficiency and quality of healthcare.
