Through your donations, educators concerned about youth awareness on global issues are able to participate in TakingITGlobal's professional development program. By focusing on the themes of Student Voice, Environmental Stewardship and Project-based Learning, scholarships are awarded to educators that are not able to afford these e-courses, and allow them to develop ways to integrate global education into their classrooms.
Student engagement in education is an urgent crisis. In a recent study, 46% of students said they found school "boring". As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, it's crucial that students are equipped with the skills to both compete in the global knowledge-based economy and collaborate to address today's pressing global issues. Unfortunately, education systems have been slow to respond to new demands and most teachers are ill-equipped to facilitate effective 21st century learning.
Our e-courses were designed for educators around the world to gain the knowledge, experience, and confidence they need to drive future-forward education. The problem is that many passionate and talented teachers who are interested in developing professionally through the e-courses are not able to afford tuition, and we're only able to waive the fees for a limited number of participants. Donations allow us to expand access to those educators unable to participate because of financial constraints.
Our e-courses help educators gain the knowledge and confidence they need to shape a more inclusive, peaceful, and sustainable world. Whether they've paid tuition or been supported through a scholarship, our e-course participants increase their capacity to use technology to engage their students in future-focused education. Our e-course alumni go on to share the experience with their colleagues, both through the casual sharing of ideas and resources and by becoming champions in their schools.
