Summary
Help us establish a sustainable base of operations in Puerto Cabezas, where people are desperate for electricity after Hurricane Felix destroyed 90% of its civil infrastructure in Sept ’07
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
The NE corner of Nicaragua was devastated by Hurricane Felix in Sept 2007. The category 5 hurricane made landfall at the town of Puerto Cabezas & destroyed nearly 90% of the civil infrastructure. Many of the surrounding communities were completely destroyed. The region is now desperate for energy. blueEnergy will execute a feasibility study for establishing a production center at the National Technical Institute in Puerto Cabezas & beginning servicing the region devastated by the hurricane.
How will this project solve this problem?
1)Visit & survey Technical Institute facility, 2)Identify workforce for production facility, 3)Design production facility, 4)Survey local communities & identify potential early adopters, 5)Develop implementation plan.
Potential Long Term Impact
The new facility in Puerto Cabezas will eventually be able to service up to 100,000 people. blueEnergy energy systems and related support services ensure that once a system is installed it is able to run and provide benefits for the long-term.
Project Message
The northern region of the Coast is devastated. People are desperate for an energy solution and blueEnergy can meet this need. blueEnergy invests in the people and that is what matters most.
