Summary
Developing a self-sustaining project which reduces the plastic residues problem by promoting environmental awareness, commercializing recycled products and generating job opportunities.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Blue Wave runs social-environmental projects for ecological defense.
Brazil produces 6 billion plastic bottles a year and less than 2% are recycled.
The Vigário Geral community was identified as an ideal locality to implement this project which links the needy people to the environmental issue. There exists a causal relationship between this type of trash and its impact on the environment as some of the bay’s tributaries originate from around the Vigário Geral area.
How will this project solve this problem?
The main objective is the creation of job opportunities, the generation of income, and the recycling of plastic bottles. The project directly generates 14 new jobs and will create 15 sales representative openings within this one community.
Potential Long Term Impact
The goal of this project is to hire and train a sales team to sell the products, with the greater goal of self-sustainability and the eventual replication of the project in other communities.
Project Message
We are establishing a culture of esteem and awareness for the environmental, social and cultural subjects. We are helping to build a new Brazil.
