This project will train 400 Masai women and 2500 school children in conservation. Empowering women by providing income generating opportunities through tree planting to overcome obstacles such as FGM.
Due to desertification there is a lack of water and a need to improve the ecosystem. Women take care of the families and share the money they earn therefore by empowering women we empower the entire family. Women and girls bear the brunt of desertification as they must travel miles for water, leaving little time for education and other activities. Educate on HIV/AIDS, childcare, healthcare and business opportunities. Masai women are treated as second class so we seek to give them a voice!
Set up nurseries to supply fast growing trees and train the women how to cultivate and harvest trees, fruits and vegetables for sale and to feed their families. Overcome stigmas placed on women and girls in Masai community by training and education.
We will serve 3800 villagers and 2500 students. The water shortage problem will be solved and our training, especially for women, will promote healthy lifestyles, conserve the environment and generate incomes. Women are the backbone of the society.
