Girls deal with Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)

All Masai girls go through this ritual. It is actually inhumane and literally destroys a young girls organs and causes long lasting emotional and physical effects. We are working dilligently to end this practice.

Masai girls marry off as young as 13

Most Masai girls are married off at very young ages. Due to cultural stigmas, women are seen as an investment, whereas they can collect dowry and utilize the women for backbreaking work.

Sopranos actor helps Masai women

Sopranos actor and filmmaker, Turk Pipken, visited our Masai women and even made a video about "Empowering Masai Women". He even helped the Masai boarding school attend a cultural fair.

Only 40% of children in Magadi attend school

The number is actually even lower for girls. Girls are subject to getting water, firewood and taking care of their siblings. There is little time for education or fun for these Masai girls. The ones in school are the lucky ones.
