Over 50% of those infected by HIV/AIDS in Rwanda are women, many of whom were infected during the genocide through rape. This project addresses the need to avail 500 women from Kamonyi District with life supporting skills to fight stigma, discrimination and empower them with their lively hoods through livestock rearing and farming so as to adopt a pro-life and positive attitude and to face the future with hope.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Alarming number of women in Kamonyi District in Rwanda live in dire misery and poverty because of neglect, isolation, stigma and discrimination due to their HIV/ AIDs Status. How will this project solve this problem?
The project will reach out to these women by providing them with knowledge-attitude& skills to fight for them & work for their economic self-reliance through income generating activities like livestock rearing and by forming cooperatives. Also they will be empowered with knowledge on their Legal and Human Rights

The project will be an opportunity for these discriminated and vulnerable women to attain skills and be rehabilitated re integrated & become an integral part of society, to stand on their own feet, improve their children's lives, gain acknowledgement, respect from family & society, not only as beneficiaries but also as contributors to the growth
