This project is enabling marginalized young women from multi-ethnic communities in Sandzak and South of Serbia to get education in IT. Obtained skills will empower these woman to get employment, start their own businesses and set an example that women can be leaders in communities.
In regions of Sandzak and South Serbia, women have traditional role of housewifes and less chances to be educated, employed and involved in community affairs. A turbulent history of conflicts together with economic backwardness results in continual ethnic tensions, high unemployment rate and poverty which further excludes women. Apart from living in the most economically and socially deprived regions in Serbia, ethnic groups are also divided internally.
Advanced lessons will enable them to complete their studies and allow them to independently provide for themselves and their families and improve their quality of life. Young women are going through comprahensive education program in IT and Web Design (160 lessons) and find employment. In addition, they will attend training (40 lessons) for personal skills development related to job seeking, start up business and capacity building.
This project will educate 15 young women from Sandzak and 15 young women from South of Serbia to find employment and start their own businesses in IT sector, offering their services both locally and globally. Furthermore, they will set an example for other girls that change is possible and encourage them to be more engaged in claiming their rights to work, be active members in the communiies and promote values of inter-ethnic cooperation, understanding and community building activities.
