Benefits 2300 vulnerable kids traumatized by poverty and violence teaching them core values and life skills through sports in guided classes providing a healthy lifestyle and a physical and psychosocial development, using physical education, sports and recreation as a tool for social integration. This provides a better use of their free time thus keeping them off drugs and violence. We are instilling behavioral models that shape their future performance by providing them a better quality of life
Habited by relocated families that had lost their homes in the volcanic eruption of Armero, and families that were displaced by violence where illegal armed groups forced them to move out of their homes. There are neither parks nor sport complex so the children do not have a proper place to practice sports and recreation activities, therefore they face social problems such as gangs, delinquency, poverty, intra familiar violence, youth pregnancy, school dropout, drugs and violence.
Through a broad education program, academics is balanced with sports. Providing kids scenarios in which through sport and a guided physical activity, the strengthening of the child's integral development is gained; enhancing psychomotor development. The objective is to instill values through sports; providing them a better use of free time; reducing school desertion, thus having a healthier lifestyle and a brighter future far from violence, with better opportunities for becoming greater persons.
2310 children will benefit from this project, allowing them to obtain a promising future; frequent participation in physical activities provide a series of social, physical and mental health benefits to human beings and can also prevent or lessen the effects of many diseases. Sport develops behavior models that increase a complete growth and shape character thus increasing job and life opportunities, thus providing future generations well-being, a healthy lifestyle and a better life.
