Centro Conviven promotes the social, cultural and educational development of at risk children from the slums of Buenos Aires, Argentina. We want to provide a physical and mental safe place to approx 500 youth of this community by providing educational, artistic and extra circular workshops. The educational workshops are developed to strengthen the self-esteem of the children and give them the tools to prosper through art, sports, technology, science & math..cementing & enriching their futures.
The slums areas of Buenos Aires, Argentina are home to hundreds of thousands of at risk youth. They current economic instability of the country has resulted in cutting of educational programs. The budget cuts coupled with high inflation have caused drug use and violence to permeate the slum areas. Conviven provides a safe community center for children to learn and prosper. Education and tools are key to their success. We have photography workshops as well auto trade classes. Essential tools.
This program will provide 500 adolescents with education and vocational workshops that they currently do not have access to. This will provide them with an alternative to the streets and crime.
It is our mission to educate the youth of the slums but we will incorporate the family into the community center programs. We will provide health and social assistance to families dealing with addiction and mental and physical abuse. Once the families see their children prosper a cycle can and will be broken. It is important that we start with the child but integrate the family as a whole. Providing hope and education to the families of the community will allow them to prosper.
