Summary
The project creates educational opportunities for 150 disadvantaged 15- to 24-year-olds in Poland. It gives them a chance to attend drama, film, computer and art workshops, and be active in society.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Beneficiaries are 150 disadvantaged students, including young people from poor families, teenagers from an orphanage deprived of parental care, victims of drugs addiction and alcoholism. All aspects of the project aim at improving their educational prospects and supporting global integration through artistic activity. Workshops are held in specialized educational and re-socialization centers, such as local community/therapy centers.
How will this project solve this problem?
All students attend a free, 1-year course (100 hours) to work on their own performances or works of art. Performances then are presented to the public through a series of programs in their town and throughout Poland.
Potential Long Term Impact
Thanks to the workshops, almost 80% of the participants will continue their suspended secondary education; 30 young people will find a job and 20 young people will get involved in charity work.
Project Message
The performances made the participants "feel important and valuable [as] individuals who are able to offer something to others, thanks to their skills, and be appreciated by others.”
- Janusz Reichel, independent expert for the European Commission
