This project supports informal township pre-schools by providing teachers' training, hands-on mentoring and resource provision, such as nutrition support, equipment and building of the structures
Very few disadvantaged South African children receive adequate early childhood education. Current high levels of poverty and unemployment have made the opening of a preschool for self-employment an attractive option for women living in the impoverished township communities. The vast majority of these women do not have the required training and experience in early childhood development that enables them to create a caring and learning environment that promotes optimum child development.
We provide a holistic support to affiliated pre-schools including comprehensive training to the teachers, hands-on mentoring through community-based workers, educational equipment and materials, as well as nutritional support for the children.
We will provide extensive training in the field of early childhood development and education to 30 women per annum. In turn, this will significantly strenghten the care and learning environment for over 250 disadvataged children per annum.
